Gary grew up in Watauga County, North Carolina. Born to a very musical family, he began playing bass at eight years old. His father, Auborn Trivette, was a prominent local musician and influenced Gary and several of his siblings to sing and pick as well. Growing up in the 60's and 70's, Gary was heavily influenced by artists like the Country Gentlemen and the Seldom Scene. He spent 17 years as banjo player for Southern Accent and later spent several years as a member of Carolina Crossing. He has become known for his rock-solid bass playing and wide vocal range as well as his songwriting abilities - all of which are showcased with ClayBank. Gary owns and operates his own electrical business and enjoys fishing in his spare time. He and his wife, Tina, attend Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
